A disgraced prince - yearning to die, cursed to live a half-life until his vengeance is completed. Or so it seems.
A noble by birth and a warrior by trade, Raum hails from a proud lineage of protectors to the crown. After returning from a battle that drew them away from their home, he and his family were framed as traitors and executed. Raum, overcome with terrible sentiment in his final moments, became victim to curse.
Stripped of his home, his family and his honour, Raum is frankly broken in spirit. He clings to the last hope of his own salvation - to avenge his House and potentially, end his curse. However, it’s impossible to fight a king as one man.
Without the prestige of his former name, he wanders away from home looking for a plan, an opportunity — or perhaps, waiting for the forgiving face of death to finally present itself.
THE SETTING.
— The Principality of Ydesza & House Atreyan*.***

- Ydesza is a small and rather insulated Principality on the coast. The nation-state is controlled by a succession of ruling families, a singular Monarch chosen each generation from the Princes/Princesses among its multiple high houses.
- Although Ydesza is small, it is a well-situated and sought after territory. The nation is known for its mineral wealth, found in deep underground caverns eroded by the ocean. Many of the citzens have built their trade (and fortune) around the natural resource. Lives here are entwined with the bounty of the land and the sea. As such, Ydesza is quite a reclusive community that tightly guards their border like a dragon guarding its accumulated hoard.
- Political games and infighting are common among the houses, but usually covert and clandestine enough to avoid outright military conflict. Every high house in Ydesza is vying for their chance at the crown, and they will do anything to sit atop its riches. Positions in the upper class are extremely insecure due to this power struggle.
- The exception to this is the house Atreyan. A vassal family, House Atreyan are the keepers of the King and serve to protect the throne. The first born son of each generation of this house — the prince given the name van Atreyus — is destined to become the Crown’s protector.
- As the protectors of the crown, House Atreyan have some of the most skilled and well-trained forces in the entire Principality. They are the most secure house in Ydesza, because they will never touch the crown, and they do not expect to. A permanent position at the foot of the throne is honour enough.
- Due to a pact made at the nation’s founding, in every generation the throne must change hands — thus ensuring each house has the opportunity to represent themselves. The ruling house is decided with the Festus ; a series of competitions and events over the course of a Summer season. It’s usually an intense period for the country, full of cultural traditions, conflicts, festivals, games, and celebrations towards the end. Whenever this season comes about, House Atreyan are the ones to keep the peace and settle any disputes.
— The Conflict.
The story begins when conflict breaks out at the far border of Ydesza.
